【摘要】:Althoughitispossibletoobserveandmeasureeachoftheseveralcharacteristicsofadetectorunderdifferentanduniqueconditions,itistheintentofthispracticethatacompletesetofdetectorspecificationsbeobtainedatthesameoperatingconditions,includinggeometry,flowrates,andtemperatures.Tospecifyadetectorrsquo;capabilitycompletely,itsperformanceshouldbemeasuredatseveralsetsofconditionswithintheusefulrangeofthedetector.Thetermsandtestsdescribedinthispracticearesufficientlygeneralsothattheymaybeusedunderanychosenconditions.Linearityandspeedofresponseoftherecordershouldbesuchthatitdoesnotdistortorotherwiseinterferewiththeperformanceofthedetector.Effectiverecorderresponseshouldbesufficientlyfastsothatitseffectonthesensitivityofmeasurementisnegligible.Ifadditionalamplifiersareusedbetweenthedetectorandthefinalreadoutdevice,theircharacteristicsshouldfirstbeestablished.1.1Thispracticecoverstestingtheperformanceofanitrogen/phosphorusthermionicionizationdetector(NPD)usedasthedetectioncomponentofagaschromatographicsystem.1.2ThispracticeappliestoanNPDthatemploysaheatedalkalimetalcompoundandemitsanelectricalchargefromthatsolidsurface.1.3ThispracticeaddressestheoperationandperformanceoftheNPDindependentlyofthechromatographiccolumn.However,theperformanceisspecifiedintermsthattheanalystcanusetopredictoverallsystemperformancewhenthedetectoriscoupledtothecolumnandotherchromatographiccomponents.1.4Forgeneralchromatographicprocedures,PracticeE260shouldbefollowedexceptwherespecificchangesarerecommendedinthispracticefortheuseofanitrogen/phosphorus(N/P)thermionicdetector.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificsafetyinformation,seeSection,Hazards.
